Chizuko Tanaka & Ruri Iwata: Duo Exhibition -Heat and Expression-

This exhibition, “ Chizuko Tanaka & Ruri Iwata: Duo Exhibition ‐ Heat and Expression ‐” brings together two artists who, while working with different materials—iron and glass—have both explored sculptural expression through the shared technique of casting.

Engaging with materials that lose their form under intense heat and then take shape once again strongly reflects each artist’s experience, judgment, and bodily sensibility. Created in factory settings where both artists have continuously confronted their materials with sincerity, the works bear clear traces of the hand, forged through the accumulation of heat and time.

Through this exhibition, we invite viewers to reconsider what sculptural form is and to reflect on the expressive power that resides in the site of making.
